About the Sustainability Data Standardization Consortium(SDSC)
The Sustainability Data Standardization Consortium aims to promote "Sustainability Information Disclosure Focused on Medium and Small-sized Enterprises, Which will Assist in all Decision-making Processes." The Consortium was established on August 14, 2023, in collaboration with various financial institutions, relevant ministries and agencies, associations of medium and small-sized enterprises, and other related companies and organizations in Japan.
Unlike financial information, sustainability information (i.e., non-financial information) is not standardized and uniform in terms of disclosure standards and formats. In particular, small and medium-sized companies and unlisted companies face a heavy burden in disclosing sustainability information.
In response to this problem, the Consortium aims to standardize the disclosure elements of sustainability data and to promote and disseminate the disclosure of sustainability data not only for listed companies and large corporations, but also for small and medium-sized companies and unlisted companies.
